2014 Rocky Mountain Driving Experience

This year's event will be a two-day event as in previous years, but Day 1 format will be different.  Day 2 will follow the same format from 2013 with the day at the High Plains Raceway (HPR).

Day 1 will have both: on-road and off-road driving.  It will feature picturesque mountain roads and a choice of on-road and off-road driving loops after lunch.

Day 0: Tuesday, June 17th 2014 

Out of Town participants arrive at RMDE HQ hotel: Embassy Suites Denver - International Airport

Day 1: Wednesday, June 18th 2014


  • 7:00 a.m. RMDE Registration and Breakfast at Embassy Suites. Sponsored by Honda.
  • 8:00 a.m. Begin departures to mountain on-road driving.
  • 11:30 a.m - 12:30 p.m. Lunch at Wild Basin Lodge.  Sponsored by General Motors.
  • 12:30 p.m. Depart for off-road trails or on-road loops
  • 2:55 p.m. Regroup at Lunch venue and drive back to the HQ hotel.
  • 4:30 p.m. Arrive back at Embassy Suites
  • Upon arrival, park in the designated area.  Cupcakes, sponsored by Chrysler.
  • 6:00 p.m. Dinner - at Embassy Suites, by RMAP.


Day 2: Thursday, June 19th 2013


  • 7:00 a.m. RMDE Registration and Breakfast. Sponsored by Subaru.
  • 8:30 a.m. Begin departures for High Plains Raceway (HPR)
  • 11:30 a.m - 12:30 p.m Lunch at the Track, by RMAP
  • 2:30 p.m. Depart HPR
  • 3:00 – 3:30 p.m. Arrive at Embassy Suites

It was a great time and I managed to get into nearly every vehicle there. Great job, Andre and everyone who made it happen! Many thanks to the manufacturers who brought us such great stuff to drive too.

High Plains Raceway requires long pants and close-toed shoes. Helmets must be worn while driving on the track, but those are usually provided (bring your own if you've got one). Hopefully there will be balaclavas like last year. Big bonus.

Rules for each day?  

Day 1 - anything?

Day 2 - HPR usually requires long pants, no open toe shoes, helmet, etc..... true?
